Biography

Andrew Kolojejchick

Young People's Philharmonic, Music Director/Conductor

Andrew Kolojejchick has taught on the music faculty of Wyoming Valley West High School for the last 30 years where he has served as the director of Concert, Marching and Jazz Bands, as well as teaching Music History, Music Theory and AP Music classes.  Additionally, he has served as the Associate choir director while working with their all school musical in the roles of pit orchestra director, vocal director and business manager.   Committed to “sharing our art” the Spartan Bands have performed in Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto, Ocean City, MD, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach, Dollywood, King’s Dominion and Walt Disney World.

         

          Mr. Kolojejchick has been on faculty at Marywood University since 2014 where he has served as both adjunct professor of clarinet and saxophone.  Additionally, he has been on the faculty of the Marywood Summer Music Institute where he has taught woodwinds, music theory and conducted the wind ensemble. 

         

          Access to quality music education for all young people has been an important part of Mr. Kolojejchick’s life and he takes great pride in the time he has spent in leadership positions for the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association serving as District 9 President, Jazz Coordinator and Advocacy Chair for District 9.

 

          For his work in music education Mr. Kolojejchick has received a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association in 2011, 2016 and 2020.  He was awarded the PMEA District 9 Service Award in 2012 and Citation of Excellence in 2018.  Finally, in 2023, Mr. Kolojejchick was named to Who’s Who Among American High School Teachers. 

 

          In addition to his teaching posts, Mr. Kolojejchick continues to play professionally with the Wyoming Valley Concert Band and the 11 piece R&B Soul group Daddyo and the Sax Maniax.  Mr. Kolojejchick is excited to join YPP, an organization with such great legacy, and hopes that together we can continue to make great music and great memories.
