40th Anniversary Celebration

In honor of our 40th year, a group of anonymous donors matched donations made at the Reunion!
All proceeds benefited the Founders’ Fund!

It was an amazing party, with music! to celebrate Jerry and Nancy Bidlack’s legacy!  In 1976, they founded two wonderful orchestras that are still serving the youth of the Lehigh Valley today. All proceeds from the event went to support the YPP organization’s Founders’ Fund, which has been created as a tribute to the Young People’s Philharmonic founders, Jerry & Nancy Bidlack.  A fabulous group of alumni, family, and friends came to play in the alumni orchestra, to listen to the reading and to join the reception!

The Alumni Reading Orchestra
Former orchestra members came together again in music, connecting with old friends, and with families they hadn’t seen in years! Outgoing JSP conductor Kenneth Bean played as well as conducted.

Program:
Sibelius, Finlandia
Verdi, Overture to the opera Nabucco
Weber, Der Freischütz
Weber, Overture to the opera Oberon

The Reunion Reception
The Alumni Reunion Reception included players and non-players, friends and families of generations of the Lehigh Valley’s young musicians enjoying fellowship, hors d’oeuvres, and generous extras that included:

Montero Violins– Lehigh Valley luthier Michael Montero offered free instrument evaluation, discounts on strings and sound adjustment services, and donated a percentage of his sales to YPP!

GiftCard Fundraiser- Sales of gift cards for a variety of popular shopping destinations that shared a percentage with the YPP!

The event came together, and was chronicled, on Facebook
